Martin Johansson grew up in Kluk i Alsen in western Jämtland. Since 2008 he has worked professionally in theatre as a director, actor, project leader, and script writer.
Martin received his education, among others, through courses taken at Lund University, the Theaterhögskolan at Malmö, the Folkhögskolan of Fridhems and Öland, and Forum Ystad. His earlier employers and collaborators include Byteatern Kalmar Länsteater, Teater Terrier, Jamtli, Riksteatern, and more.
Since 2018, Martin is leading the association for scenic art ‚Undantaget‘ together with Jonna Hylén. Undantaget’s productions include works that have been newly written – often for a young audience – as well as a larger show each summer, where a classical theatre piece or piece of literature is put on stage.
In the vast majority of cases, Martin’s creative work departs from local stories and lore, which are adapted for theatre, interpreted, and placed in a contemporary context.
